The LEI Ultra MD™ CO2 laser systems utilize a user friendly interface which is microprocessor controlled making it simple to setup and to operate. The sophisticated features of the Ultra MD™ series of surgical CO2 lasers include continuous wave, chopped pulse, and super pulse settings – all ready at the touch of a finger – and all in a convenient, space savings compact size. The CO2 laser system is offered in three wattages: 40,60 and 80.

20 to 40 Watts of super pulse (depending on model), enabling less thermal damage on tissue resulting in “Char-Free“ effect.

The DS (Dual Shutter) model allows the use of both a flexible CO2 fiber or articulated arm at the flip of a switch. The LEI Ultra MD DS Model is compatible with LEI UltraLase flexible CO2 fibers, enabling functionality similar to the OmniGuide system.

General, GYN and ENT Surgical Procedures

The 125mm hand piece focuses the laser to 0.2mm spot size creating maximum power densities. The handpiece can be partially disassembled for sterilization or draped to maintain a sterile field. There are several end piece accessories that are available; mirrors to deflect the laser at extreme angles and a distance gauge for easily finding the focal length.

Eye protection during CO2 laser procedures is essential for the safety of patient and staff. Injury to the eye can occur without proper eye protection from direct or indirect laser light. All persons within the nominal hazard zone during laser procedures must wear safety glasses when the CO2 laser is in operation.

Laser warning signs should be placed at every entrance to areas in which the CO2 laser is in use. Laser danger and laser warning signs provide information about the type of laser being used and allow the person entering the room to take precautions prior to entering. Laser danger and warning signs are required by OSHA and recommended by most other organizations related to laser safety.
